Box Score READING, Pa. - Junior Zach Martin scored the game-winning goal with less than 10 minutes remaining as the Stevenson men's soccer team broke its four-game winless streak with a 2-1 Commonwealth Conference victory over Albright Wednesday evening at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.
With the win, the Mustangs (10-5-2, 1-2-2 MAC) posted 10 wins for the first time since 2010 when the team set the school record with 14 wins that season.
Dan Scofield put the Lions (6-10-1, 1-5 MAC) on the board early with his first of the season in the 19th minute. Stevenson answered back to tie the game at one when senior Reid Hawkins found the back of the net for the third time this season. The defender came into the season with one career goal.
Martin scored the fourth goal of the season and first career game-winning goal with 9:26 remaining in regulation.
The game was nearly statistically even as Albright held a slight 8-6 edge in shots over Stevenson. Both teams totaled five corner kicks.
Junior Ryan Callinan totaled four saves while his counterpart Austin Aldinger finished with one.
Stevenson will play its home regular season finale on Saturday, October 25 when the Mustangs host Alvernia in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 5:00 p.m.
