Senior Duo Leads Mustangs to 3-0 Win Over Albright, Remain Atop Standings

Box Score

READING, Pa. - Senior Meaghan Williams scored her first of two goals 1:54 into the contest and senior Jamie Matlock scored her 23 career goal as the Stevenson women's soccer team remained unbeaten in the Commonwealth Conference with a 3-0 win over Albright Tuesday Evening at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.

With the win, the Mustangs (6-5-3, 4-0-1) kept pace with No. 1 Messiah for the top spot in the conference. Both teams are unbeaten through five conference contests with three games remaining.

The early goal for Williams proved to be enough as Stevenson posted its fifth shutout this season and fourth in the last five games. The Mustangs have allowed just one goal in conference play this season, which was against the top-ranked Falcons.

It was the sixth-career game-winning goal for Williams which ranks tied for fifth all-time with sophomore Alexis Siejack. The school's all-time assist leader, Williams ranks sixth all-time with 66 career points.

Matlock added a goal in the 14th minute on an assist from freshman Kailee Ziegler, her fourth of the season and first since September 20. She currently ranks sixth all-time on the career goals list.

Williams added her fifth goal of the season, which ties freshman Kellen Wittman for the team lead in the 22nd minute. It was the third multi-goal game for Williams and second this season.

Making her fifth-straight start, freshman Tiffany McKee stopped the lone shot faced before giving way to classmate Katelynn Giannacini in the second half who totaled two saves. McKee, who has two solo shutout, posted her third shared shutout.

The Mustangs outshot Albright 14-6, while the Lions (7-8-1, 3-3 MAC) held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Stevenson will play its regular season home finale on Friday, October 24 when the Mustangs host Alvernia in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. In pregame ceremonies the team will honor seniors Matlock, Williams, Molly Malloy and Kaylie Yapps.
