Box Score 2 FREDERICK, Md. - Led by 21 kills and 15 digs by sophomore Kristen Brooks and 20 kills, five total blocks and four digs by senior Megan Miller, the Stevenson women's volleyball team extended its unbeaten streak to 24 in the Commonwealth Conference with wins over Hood and Lycoming Saturday at BB&T Arena on the campus of Hood College.
The Mustangs (22-3, 6-0 MAC) posted a 23-25, 25-11, 25-15, 25-14 victory over Hood before defeating Lycoming 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.
For just the third time this season Stevenson dropped the first set after falling 25-23 in the first versus the host Blazers (9-16, 1-5 MAC). The Mustangs totaled a .119 hitting percentage in that set before combining for a .414 hitting percentage over the final three.
Brooks posted a match-high 13 kills while also adding 11 digs. Brooks has posted double digit kills in 12 of her 22 matches this season after posting just eight a season ago. She currently ranks in the top-10 in the conference with 204 kills this season.
Senior Samantha Perillo led the way with 19 digs while also adding three assists, two service aces and one kill. Making just her second career start, freshman Karin Schleimer totaled a career-high 42 assists.
In the straight-set victory over the Warriors (14-13, 3-3 MAC), Miller led the way with 11 kills and three block assists. She has posted double digit kills in four of the past six matches. Meanwhile, Perillo totaled 21 digs, her fourth match in the past five she has totaled at least 20.
The Mustangs totaled 18 service aces on the day, including a combined seven by freshmen Annika Schwartz and Deanna Bradbury.
Lycoming finished with a .096 hitting percentage, the 15th time Stevenson has held its opponent under .100. On the other side of the net, the Mustangs lead the conference offensively with a .214 hitting percentage.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, October 22 when the Mustangs host a Commonwealth Conference contest versus Arcadia beginning at 7:00 p.m. In pregame ceremonies, the team will honor seniors Miller and Perillo.
