Alic Scores First of the Year, Mustangs Fall on Road at Widener

Box Score

CHESTER, Pa. - Sophomore Adnan Alic scored his first goal of the season but Widener scored a goal 1:26 into each half to lift the hosts over the Stevenson men's soccer team in a Commonwealth Conference contest Saturday afternoon as Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

The Mustangs (9-5-1, 0-2-1 MAC) have dropped their second-straight game and have won just one in their last six. The loss also marked the first on the road this season.

Eric Bihlear put the Pride (8-3-1, 1-2 MAC) on the board in the second minute after finishing a rebound off an initial shot which hit off the crossbar. It is the fourth game Stevenson has allowed a goal in the first five minutes. The Mustangs are 1-2-1 in those games.

Conference leading scorer Tori Remondelli scored what would eventually be the game-winner on a shot 26 yards away. Alic responded just five minutes later with his own long shot, this time on a free kick to cut the deficit back to one.

But that would be as close as the Mustangs would get as Remondelli added an insurance goal, his 13th of the season which keeps him tied atop the leader board.

Junior Ryan Callinan totaled four saves while his counterpart Dave Sousa finished with two.

Widener outshot the Mustangs 19-7, including 12-2 in the first half. The Pride also held a slight 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Stevenson returns home on Tuesday, October 14 when the Mustangs host top-ranked and undefeated Messiah beginning at 7:00 p.m.
