Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Alison Kagel netted her first career hat trick as the Stevenson field hockey team held Gettysburg without a shot as the Mustangs posted a 5-0 victory over the visiting Bullets Wednesday night at Mustang Stadium.
The win marked head coach Laurel Martin's 200th career win as a coach.
The Mustangs (7-4) held their opponent without a shot for the seventh time in the program's 21-year history and first since Sept. 5, 2010. It is also the team's 12th shutout in four seasons under Martin.
The win for Stevenson also marked the first-ever victory over the Bullets (2-6) in three all-time meetings.
After failing to score on its first four shots, Stevenson scored a goal on five of its next six to take a 5-0 halftime lead. Senior Caitlin Dempsey started the scoring with her team leading 11th goal of the season. She now has 37 career goals, four shy of tying the school record.
Just 1:23 later senior Meg Gill blasted a shot following a penalty corner, which sophomore Rosemarie Neiva deflected up into the net. Gill has totaled career-high four assists this season.
Kagel scored all three of her goals in the final 8:14 of the first half including the first two on an assist from Dempsey. Kagel move's into seventh place all-time with 24 career goals.
Sophomore Gabriella Brooks posted her first career shutout after sharing four shuout's a season ago.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 4 when the Mustangs travel to Arcadia for a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m.
