ASTON, Pa. - Stevenson women's ice hockey sophomore Molly O'Neil scored the game-winner 3:03 into overtime, as the Mustangs won their first overtime game in the program's two-year history, 4-3 over Neumann Sunday at Ice Work Rinks.

After starting the season 0-9 on the road, the Mustangs (6-12-1) have won three of their last four away from Reisterstown Sportsplex. The team also matched their win set in their inaugural season with six games remaining.

The Knights (4-11-1) got on the board first with a goal by Megan Russelo who scored with 1:33 remaining in the first period on an assist from Kelly Fox.

Sophomore McKenzie Taggart tied the game with her 13th goal of the season on a power-play goal in the second period on assists from O'Neil and sophomore Megan Alexander.

After what looked like to be a Stevenson goal was called off, Neumann took the lead on a power-play goal by Casey Kilduff on assists from Russelo and Grace Kleinbach to take a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

A slap shot by sophomore Megan Donahue tied the game at two before the Knights reclaimed the lead just 44 seconds later on a power-play goal by Edie Brenning. Donahue's goal was assisted by sophomore Jessie Capanelli.

Midway through the period, Alexander scored the game-tying goal on an assist from Taggart.

In overtime, sophomore Tori Emoff found O'Neil on the back side of the net for her team-leading third game-winning goal and fifth of her career. Taggart also tallied an assist.

The duo of Taggart and O'Neil have scored 13 goals this season when assisted by the other player. Taggart also finished with three points for the third time in career.

Five of the seven goals came on the power-play, including three by Stevenson. The Mustangs finished 3-for-8 on the extra-man opportunity while Neumann was 2-for-7.

After being outshot 19-4 in the first period, the Mustangs outshot Neumann 31-19 the rest of the way, including 3-0 in overtime.

Defensively, Stevenson blocked a season-high 19 shots, including a combined nine by sophomores Rachel Martell and Sydney Hughes.

Sophomore Anastassia Nelson picked up her second win in as many games totaling a career-high 35 saves. Justina Mayr finished with 31 saves for the Knights.

The Mustangs travel to SUNY Oswego for a two-game set with the Lakers beginning Saturday, February 1 at 3:00 p.m.
