Box Score 2 STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson baseball pitching duo of juniors Greg Myers (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) and Brooks Miller (Odenton, Md./Arundel) both pitched complete games on Saturday as the Mustangs won their seventh consecutive conference game sweeping Widener at Park Field winning game one 6-3 and game two, 3-1.
Stevenson (19-9, 8-4 MAC) extends their current win streak to three and home win streak to four. Furthermore, the Mustangs are 10 games over .500 for the third time in school history, first since Apr. 28, 2007 when they were 22-12.
In game one, the Mustangs posted runs in the first four innings as sophomore Troy Miller (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, plating reigning Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week junior Tom Goulian (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) in the first and fourth innings.
Myers earned his sixth win of the season, giving up eight hits and striking out eight. He continues to lead the team in strikeouts with 45 in 52.0 innings pitched.
In the nightcap, the Mustangs would score first again as Miller singled in Goulian in the opening inning. Senior Heath Johnson (New Castle, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) drove in the other two runs for Stevenson, both times bringing senior Matt Bratter (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) home.
Stevenson's leadoff hitters accounted for all nine runs on the afternoon, including all four from Bratter.
As the Mustangs struck first in both games, they improve to 15-0 this season when doing so and 29-7-1 over the last two.
Widener (10-15, 5-7 MAC) was led by Marc Noyalis who extended his career-best hitting streak to 16 games while Dennis Hocker homered in the fourth inning of game one for only the fifth opposing home run hit at Park Field in 35 games.
Stevenson continues their four-game homestand Wednesday when they host former CAC rival York (Pa.) at Park Field with first pitch at 3:30 p.m.
