Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

STEVENSON, Md. - After dropping the opening game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader versus Albright 11-5 at Park Field on Saturday, the Stevenson baseball team's nine seniors combined for six hits, five RBIs and four runs as well as four strikeouts and the win in game two as the Mustangs held on for a 6-3 victory.

The win secured the No. 2 seed for Stevenson (24-15, 13-8 MAC) in next week's 2013 Commonwealth Conference Baseball Championship.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI by senior Heath Johnson (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) before the Lions tied it in the top of the third on an RBI-single by Gabe Santone.

However, Stevenson quickly regained the lead on an RBI-ground out by senior Josh Morris (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) in the bottom of the third before adding two runs each in the fourth and fifth to take a 6-1 advantage.

Johnson and senior Ben Henry (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's) each had RBI hits in the fourth while Morris also added his second RBI with a single in the fifth before sophomore Troy Miller (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) scored on an Albright throwing error.

The Lions (13-22, 4-17 MAC) tried to mount a rally with two runs in the top of the seventh to pull within three on a two-run triple by Tyler Meckle, but seniors Chris Street (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) and Tim Pyle (Silver Spring, Md./Covenant Life) combined to retire the next three batters to give the Mustangs their 15th home win this season.

Johnson finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs while totaling his 100th career hit with a single to right center in the fourth. Morris also had two RBIs, going 1-for-3.

On the mound, senior Andrew Haab (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) earned his fourth win in nine career decisions, allowing just one earned run and scattering six hits while striking out three over 4.0 innings.

Meckley and Santone combined for four hits and three RBIs for Albright while Doug Franks suffered his fourth loss after allowing four runs on four hits over 4.0 innings.

In the opener, the teams exchanged runs in the first before the Lions added three in the third and seven in the fifth to take an 11-2 advantage. They scored nine runs on nine hits against Stevenson junior Brooks Miller (Odenton, Md./Arundel) who suffered just his third loss in nine decisions this season.

The Mustangs committed four errors which led to three unearned runs for Albright. Morris was 3-for-4 with one RBI while senior Matt Bratter (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) and junior Ben Hallam (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) each went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Stevenson returns to action on Sunday when it travels to No. 5-ranked and former Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
