Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Highlighted by two first-period goals from Olivia Farrell, Connecticut College jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one en route to a 5-1 victory over the Stevenson women's ice hockey team Saturday at Dayton Arena.
The Mustangs (3-7-1) fell for the seventh time in as many road games this season where they have been outscored, 33-12. By comparison, the team is 3-0-1 at home, outscoring opponents, 15-6.
For the second-straight day, Stevenson scored its lone goal short-handed as sophomore Jessie Capanelli found the back of the net for the third time this season off an assist from sophomore Madison Lange at the 7:03 mark of the third period.
Led by Farrell, the Camels (4-2-2) led 3-0 after one and 4-0 after two following Farrell's third goal of the game at 19:11 of the second period. It was Farrell's first career hat trick as she now has four goals this season.
Connecticut College scored twice on the power play, finishing the game 2-for-7 after going 1-for-8 on Friday. Stevenson, who leads the nation in penalties, finished the weekend with 18 for 36 minutes. The Mustangs have totaled 111 penalties for 236 minutes this season, but their opponents are just 14-for-94 on the power play for a mere 14.9 percent.
Sophomore Sarah Modzelewski finished with 25 saves as the Camels outshot the Mustangs, 30-14.
Stevenson returns to action to Thursday, January 2 when it travels to UMass-Boston for the seventh annual Codfish Bowl.
