Box Score READING, Pa. - Stevenson women's soccer junior Meaghan Williams (Dundalk, Md./Dundalk) scored the lone goal of the game 5:58 into overtime, to lift the Mustangs over Alvernia, 1-0 and into the playoffs Saturday at Schlager Memorial Field.
With their thrid-straight win, the Mustangs (12-7-1, 5-3-1 MAC) advanced to their second-straight Commonwealth Conference playoff while knocking the Crusaders (11-7-2, 3-5-1 MAC) out of contention. A year ago Stevenson fell to eventual National Champion Messiah in the championship game.
Williams picked up her fourth goal of the season, and third career game-winner on a breakaway feed from senior Catherine Madden (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson).
The Mustangs outshot Alvernia 25-6, including 14-1 in the second half and 3-0 in the extra period while also holding a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore Alicia Greene (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) earned her third conseuctive win totaling four saves while her counterpart Colleen Maher had 13.
Stevenson, who is the third-seed, will travel to face second-seed Elizabethtown on Thursday, November 7. Game time is TBA. The Mustangs dropped a 4-3 decision to the Blue Jays back on October 23.
