Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. - Joseph Bertucci scored his fourth goal of the season in the 105th minute to lift Arcadia to a 3-2 double overtime victory over the Stevenson men's soccer team Saturday at Easton Field, handing the Mustangs their first loss in the last four games.
Stevenson (7-6-1, 2-1-0 MAC) is now 0-6 on the road this season compared to 7-0-1 at home.
Meanwhile, the loss dropped the Mustangs into a tie with the Knights and Elizabethtown for second place in the Commonwealth Conference standings, one game behind Messiah.
Stevenson held two separate leads on the day, the first of which came in the 40th minute as senior Christopher Panian (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) netted his team-leading eighth goal of the season off an assist from senior Steve Hamilton (Manchester, Md./North Carroll).
Panian has now scored at least one goal in seven games this year, including three of the last four.
With just 38 seconds remaining in the first half, Arcadia (6-6-1, 2-1-0 MAC) would tie the game at 1-1 following John Pacana's fourth goal of the season.
The Mustangs quickly regained the lead just 4:24 into the second half when junior Yianni Sarioglou (Perry Hall, Md./Calvert Hall) scored his seventh goal of the year off a double assist from Panian and freshman Adnan Alic (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven).
However, just like after the first goal, the Knights would tie the game less than five minutes later as Daulton Rutter scored on a feed from Alex Wells, tying the game at 2-2 in the 54th minute.
After four goals in a span of just 9:08, neither team would score over the final 36 minutes of regulation nor the first 14 minutes of overtime before Bertucci found the back of the next at 104:14 to give Arcadia its third consecutive win at home.
Making his third start of the season in place of injured junior Pat Carey (Brooklyn Park, Md. / North County), sophomore Ryan Callinan (Edison, N.J./Saint Joseph's) stopped six shots while falling to 2-2.
Meanwhile, Ryan Lantzy stopped 10 of the 12 shots he faced to improve his record to 6-5-1.
Stevenson returns home to face Lebanon Valley on Wednesday at Mustang Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
