Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's soccer sophomore Alex Zeidler (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) totaled a career-high nine saves, but the Mustangs were held scoreless for the third time in the last four games as Franklin & Marshall edged out a 1-0 victory Wednesday night at Mustang Stadium.
After scoring nine goals in its first three games en route to starting the season 3-0, Stevenson (3-5) has scored just two during its five-game losing streak while suffering three one-goal losses.
Meanwhile, all seven of the Diplomats' games this season have been decided by one goal. The team was ranked at No. 13 in the latest D3soccer.com Top 25 Poll.
Neither team was efficient offensively as Franklin & Marshall (6-1) held a 20-8 margin in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
The game was scoreless until the 40th minute when Chase Tenbrook scored his first career goal on a shot by Devon Malfitano that was saved by Zeidler. Malfitano also picked up his first career point with his first career assist on the play.
Zeidler posted six of his nine saves in the second half where the Diplomats held a 12-3 advantage in shots.
Zeidler has totaled 12 of his 16 saves this season over his last two games while allowing just one goal in 135 minutes. He made three saves in the second half of Saturday's 1-0 loss at Rowan.
The Mustangs continue their four-game homestand on Saturday when they host a non-conference contest versus Manhattanville at Mustang Stadium beginning at 5:00 p.m. A member of the Freedom Conference, the Valiants are currently 3-2-2 this season and 0-2 on the road.
