Box Score READING, Pa. - Stevenson baseball junior Heath Johnson (New Castle, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) scored the team's lone run in the eighth inning, but the Mustangs could not overcome a three-run fifth as they fall to future MAC rival Alvernia Wednesday, 4-1 at Angelica Park.
Stevenson (20-19-2) was able to break up the shutout on an RBI fielder's choice by senior Justin Anderson (Shrewsbury, Pa./Calvert Hall) that would plate Johnson in the eighth.
Alvernia (25-10-1) pitcher Matthew Burger shut down the Mustang offense over seven innings, surrendering only two hits in picking up his second career win and the first of the season.
Kevin Becker-Menditt picked up his conference-leading fifth save while sophomore Ryan Kellough (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) was tagged with the loss despite allowing just three hits and one earned run over 3.0 innings of work. Freshman Joe Walinksi (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) three runs on five hits over 3.0 innings.
