Box Score 2 STEVENSON, Md. - Stevenson baseball senior D.J. Milliken (Owings, Md./Northern) pitched a seven-inning, complete game shutout, striking out six and walking just two to lead the Mustangs to a 5-0 victory in game one of a doubleheader Saturday against Penn State Harrisburg at Park School Field.
The Nittany Lions (1-3) won game two, 5-3.
In the opener, Stevenson (3-3) batted around in the first inning, providing all the offense Milliken would need with runs scored by junior Heath Johnson (New Castle, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), senior Tony Prescott (Elkridge, Md./Howard) and senior Zac Stavish (Westminster, Md./South Carroll).
The Mustangs added two more in the fifth on a two-run double by junior Chris DeFeo (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) that would score Prescott and sophomore Scott Merkel (Hampstead, Md./Calvert Hall).
Merkel and DeFeo each had two RBIs while going 2-for-3 and 1-for-2, respectively.
Game two was tied at 2-2 through three before Penn State Harrisburg posted three runs in the top of the fourth on a RBI-single by Dean Danganis and an RBI-double by Dalton Trolinger that chased Stevenson sophomore Joe Walinski (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall).
Walinksi surrendered eight hits and five runs, including four earned, over four innings while striking out four and walking one.
Sophomore Ryan Kellough (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) entered in relief and pitched three no-hit innings, but the Mustangs could only muster one more run on a solo homer by senior Justin Anderson (Shrewsbury, Pa./Calvert Hall).
Clint Hicks earned his first victory of the year for the Nittany Lions, scattering seven hits over seven innings. He did not allow a walk and retired eight of the last 12 Mustangs he faced, including the final two that represented the tying run.
Stevenson returns to action tomorrow, hosting a nine-inning contest against Mount Aloysius. First pitch is at noon.
