Christopher Panian Scores 89th Minute Goal as Widener Edges Mustangs, 2-1

CHESTER, Pa. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Christopher Panian (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the waning moments of the game, but Widener posted a 2-1 victory Tuesday evening at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.

In a game with limited scoring opportunities for both sides, the Mustangs (6-8, 1-3 MAC) were outshot 11-4 with their first shot coming in the 62nd minute.

The Pride (5-6-2, 2-1-1 MAC) struck first in the 21st minute off the foot of Zac Furia for the first goal of his collegiate career.  Furia assisted on the game-winner from Tori Remondelli in the 69th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Kenneth Hersey (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) made three saves while counterpart Jakub Valdner made two.

Stevenson returns to action Saturday when it travels to Lycoming for a Commonwealth Conference contest.  Game time is 1:00 p.m.
