Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson field hockey junior Kaitlyn May (Arnold/Archbishop Spalding) scored twice as the Mustangs outscored Immaculata 3-0 in the first half en route to a 5-1 victory in the Black-Eyed Susan Tournament.
Led by May, the Mustangs (2-1) had four different players in the multi-point column, including freshman Ariella Hopp (Jarrettsville/Institute of Notre Dame) who earned her first career points.
Hopp scored the game's first goal on a penalty stroke just 1:17 into the game. The Mighty Mac's (0-3) had a chance to tie the game on a penalty stroke of their own, but Stevenson junior Kelsi Zimmerman (Odenton/Arrundel) came up with one of her two saves on the game. Zimmerman has saved both penalty strokes she has faced this season.
Stevenson sophomore Leigh Willing (Princess Anne/Holly Grove Christian) scored her first goal of the season off a penalty corner from Hopp to end the first half.
Megan Dwyer scored for Immaculata to open the second half, but the Mustangs had too much offense for the Mighty Macs, as May and senior Brittany Martin (Hampstead/Hereford) scored back-to-goals in a ten minute span.
Hopp, Willing and Martin all registered three points, on a goal and an assist.
Sophomore Allyson Moody (New Windsor/Westminster) also scored, recording for her first career goal.
Jess Jones made six saves in the loss for Immaculata.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 7th when they host a non-conference game against local-rival McDaniel starting at 5 p.m.
