Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. - Shawn Ganow scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 6:24 into the game as Franklin & Marshall handed the Stevenson men's soccer team its second-straight loss Sunday as the host Diplomats posted a 3-0 decision in the final game of the Scrapyard Classic.
The Mustangs (1-2) were outshot 19-6, including 10-2 in the second half.
Physical play by both teams led to seven total yellow cards, four of which were incurred by the Mustangs. Stevenson sophomore Jake Bond (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) also received a red card in the 36th minute while the Mustangs committed 11 fouls compared to eight for Franklin & Marshall.
Senior Ryan Flannelly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) finished with a game-high five saves before giving way to junior Jose Sarmiento (Takoma Park/Montgomery Blair) and sophomore Pat Carey (Brooklyn Park/North County). Sarmiento registered two saves.
Sam Lane led Franklin & Marshall (2-0) with three points on a goal and one assist. Zach Fernberger tallied one save for the Diplomats.
For his efforts this weekend, freshman Fabian Allen (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Morristown (N.J.)) was named to the all-tournament team after scoring the Mustangs' lone goal in Saturday's 2-1 double overtime loss to Eastern.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 7 the team travels Neumann for a non-conference contest beginning at 5:00 p.m.
