Samantha Novy (Severna Park/Severna Park) scored her first goal of the season while sophomore
Jamie Matlock (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland) netted the game winner as the Mustangs defeated Muhlenberg at Mustang Stadium Sunday, 2-1.
Stevenson (5-3-2) is unbeaten in their last three games and is 3-1-1 in the team's first season at Mustang Stadium.
Novy got the game started almost immediately when she knocked in a corner kick from freshman Meaghan Williams (Dundalk/Dundalk) in the third minute after Williams played the ball to the near post.
The Mules (4-4-1) nearly equalized a minute later, but senior Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) came up with a point blank save on C.J. Graetzer's shot inside the box.
Ross tied her season-high with eight saves to pick up her fifth win of the season.
Just after the half hour mark, Matlock doubled the Mustangs' lead after squeezing the ball past Mules keeper Michele Toher. Sophomore Amanda Marston (Baltimore/Institute of Notre Dame) played the ball in to Matlock behind the defense down the right side before Matlock then finished from a tight angle for her team-leading third goal of the season.
Muhlenberg grabbed a lifeline just before the half when Stephanie Tramutola fired home a free kick from 25 yards out for her first tally of the season.
The Mustangs defense, led by senior Julie Dempsey (Waldorf/Westlake) and junior Taylor Zimmerman (Jarrettsville/John Carroll), tightened after halftime, limiting the Mules to just four shots in the second half.
Stevenson travels across town to Westminster on Thursday for a 4:00 p.m., contest with local rival McDaniel at Bair Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for September 7, but heavy rain forced the postponement until September 29.
Last season, the Mustangs beat the Green Terror 4-0 behind two goals from current assistsant coach Allison Humphries and a goal each from Catherine Madden (Bethesda/Walter Johnson) and Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin).
