Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Riding a four-game winning streak and tied for first atop of the CAC standings, the Stevenson women's volleyball team committed 27 attack errors and eight service errors in falling to Salisbury at home Wednesday at Owings Mills Gymnasium, 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25.
The Mustangs (12-2, 2-1 CAC), who are off to the second-best start to a season in school history, also had five reception errors. The best start to a season in school history came in 2008 when the team started 15-0 en route to a school record 32 victories.
Sophomore Christine Isenberg (Taneytown/Francis Scott Key) and junior Avery Gabbard (Arnold/Broadneck) combined for 29 of Stevenson's 47 kills but also totaled 15 errors. Isenberg posted her fifth double double of the season with 13 kills and 16 digs while Gabbard had a team-high 16 kills to go along with seven digs.
Salisbury (12-1, 3-0 CAC) was led by the trio of Kelly Vieira, Chelsea Glowacki and Carley Todd who registered 31 kills and 39 digs. Vieira and Todd both finished with a double double while Glowacki led the team with 11 kills and seven total blocks.
As a team, the Sea Gulls posted 17 total blocks.
The Sea Gulls won the first two sets and were two points from the game before Stevenson went on a 7-0 run to steal the third set. During that run, Gabbard and senior Brooke Gilley (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) combined for five kills.
Gilley finished with seven kills and four assists.
Freshman Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) finished 23 digs, two shy of her career-high set versus Catholic on September 3. The Mustangs recorded 82 digs as a team, the fourth time in their last six games they have had over 80.
Junior Kristen Lubeski (Bishopville/Stephen Decatur) tied a season-high with six kills while senior Amy Rudolph (North East/Rising Sun) had eight digs.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts a tri-match with Messiah and Gallaudet beginning at 2:00 p.m.
