Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Stevenson women's soccer freshman Meaghan Williams (Dundalk/Dundalk) netted her first career goal while senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin) scored a season-high four points as the Mustangs snapped a two-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over Catholic Wednesday at CUA Soccer Field.
The win also snapped a two-game road losing streak for Stevenson (4-3-1) and was the 50th in the career of fourth-year head coach Graeme Millar, leaving him 12 shy of tying the school record held by Matt Biederman who won 62 from 1994-2000.
Eyler opened the scoring in the game's 14th minute before an own goal in the 42nd minute increased the Mustangs' lead to 2-0 at halftime.
Sophomore Mackenzie Calhoun (Ellicott City/Howard) netted her first goal of the season just over 20 minutes into the second half. It would be the first of three goals in a span of 2:50 as Courtney Orgill scored 58 seconds later and Eyler added her second at 68:07 to increase Stevenson's lead to 4-1.
Williams capped the scoring with her first career goal in the 81st minute.
Senior Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) finished with a season-high eight saves, totaling four in each half.
The Cardinals (3-4) held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks, but the Mustangs held a 28-14 margin in shots, including a 17-8 edge in the second half.
Yasmeen Ajardi made 13 saves for Catholic.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday when it travels to face CAC rival Frostburg State. The Mustangs went 2-0 against the Bobcats last season, including a 1-0 win in double overtime in the title game of the CAC Women's Soccer Championship.
