Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson women's soccer team had its six-game home unbeaten streak snapped Saturday at Mustang Stadium as the Mustangs fell in its CAC opener against rival York (Pa.), 1-0.
The Mustangs (3-3-1) have lost back-to-back games since being ranked at No. 6 in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region on Tuesday, both by shutout.
Jordan Snook scored for the Spartans (1-4) just 2:47 into the contest after striking a volley from the top of the box off an assist by Dale Mason.
The goal was just the second in five games for York this season and the second for Snook who also scored in 78th minute of a 3-1 loss at Carnegie Mellon last Sunday, September 11. It was the Spartans' first win in the last five games against the Mustangs.
The Mustangs had a chance to even the score in the 23rd minute when junior Kayla Curry (Timonium/John Carroll) and sophomore Jamie Matlock (Bridgetown, N.J./Cumberland) had a give-and-go, but Matlock's touch went a little too far before Sarah Spanarkel collected it for the Spartans.
Despite the loss, Stevenson outshot York 15-11 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) finished with six saves for the Mustangs, and has given up just two goals in four games at home.
Spanarkel finished with six saves for the Spartans.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 21 when they travel to Washington, D.C., to face Catholic beginning at 4:30 p.m.
