Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Stevenson women's soccer junior Kayla Curry (Timonium/John Carroll) scored her first goal of the season and sophomore Catherine Madden (Bethesda/Walter Johnson) recorded her first point as the Mustangs defeated St. Mary's (Md.) on the road Wednesday, 3-0.
Six different players tallied a point as Stevenson (8-3-2, 2-1-1 CAC) extended its unbeaten streak to six and its road unbeaten streak to four.
The Mustangs started quickly as sophomore Shannon McGuire (Darnestown/Northwest) forced Seahawks goalie Kelsey Wirtz to make a save less than a minute after the opening whistle.
Stevenson went on to outshoot St. Mary's (Md.), 11-8.
Sophomore Jamie Matlock (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland) opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing off a corner from freshman Meaghan Williams (Dundalk/Dundalk) for what proved to be her fourth game-winner of the season and the sixth of her young career.
The Mustangs continued the pressure in the 27th minute when senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the year off an assist from Madden.
Curry found the back of the net for the first time this season in the second half, finishing a corner from McGuire who picked up her second assist of the season.
Senior Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) registered two saves to pick up her eighth win and seventh shutout of the season, equaling the mark she set as a freshman when she had 11 wins and seven shutouts. For her career, Ross has totaled 30 wins, including 17 by shutout.
The Mustangs return home Saturday to take on Rowan in a rematch of last season's NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship first round contest. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m., at Mustang Stadium.
