FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - In a match-up of the last two CAC champions, Stevenson women's soccer freshman Meghan Williams (Dundalk/Dundalk) and senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin), the team's two leading scorers, each had a point as the Mustangs blanked Mary Washington on the road Saturday at the Battleground Athletic Complex, 2-0.

The win secured the No. 2 seed in the 2011 CAC Women's Soccer Championship for Stevenson (12-4-2, 6-1-1 CAC) and as a result, gives the team a first round bye and a home game in the semifinals on Wednesday, November 2.

The Mustangs outshot the Eagles 17-6 and held a 9-2 advantage in penalty kicks.

Sophomore Jamie Matlock (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland) scored the game-winning goal in the 31st minute off an assist from senior Samantha Novy (Severna Park/Severna Park). It was Matlock's sixth goal of the season and her fifth game-winner.

Seven of Matlock's 10 career goals have been game-winners.

Williams added her fifth goal of the year, and third in the last four games, in the 64th minute on a feed from Eyler who picked up her team-leading 23rd point of the season and the 134th of her career, eight short of the school record.

Defensively, senior Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) earned her second-straight shutout and seventh in the last 10 games. She has totaled nine shutouts and 12 wins this season and 19 shutous and 34 wins in her career.

Stevenson wraps up the regular season with Senior Day on Tuesday, October 25 as the Mustangs host a non-conference contest versus Bridgewater (Va.) at Mustang Stadium beginning at 5:00 p.m.
