Five Different Players Score a Goal as Mustangs Hand Marymount (Va.) 7-1 Loss

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's soccer sophomore Amanda Marston (Baltimore/Institute of Notre Dame) and freshman Taylor Hennessey (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) each scored twice as the Mustangs posted a 7-1 CAC victory over Marymount (Va.) Saturday at Mustang Stadium.

The win gave Stevenson (10-4-2, 4-1-1 CAC) its fourth consecutive 10-win season while improving its record at home to 5-1-2 this season.

Saturday marked the second consecutive game and third this season in which the Mustangs scored at least five goals. The last time the they had at least seven goals was Oct. 10, 2009 when it defeated Gallaudet at home, 10-0.

Marston, Hennessey and senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin) each totaled four points with Eyler adding her team-leading ninth goal of the season and 59th of her career in the 57th minute. She is now four shy of the school record.

Eyler was one of five different players who scored a goal in a span of 7:46 as Stevenson extended a 1-0 halftime lead to a 6-0 advantage in the 61st minute. Marston started the rally with her second goal and fourth point of the game, a new career-high, with Eyler, Hennessey, freshman Meaghan Williams (Dundalk/Dundalk) and sophomore Shannon McGuire (Darnestown/Northwest) all finding the back of the net.

Hennessey scored her first career points with her first career goals in the 61st and 68th minutes.

Hannah Boswell scored her first career goal for the Saints (4-9, 0-6 CAC) who have now lost 11 consecutive conference contests. Victoria Wyand made seven saves.

Stevenson hosts a crucial CAC contest with rival Salisbury on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Sea Gulls, ranked at No. 9 in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region, one spot ahead of Stevenson, are in first place atop the CAC standings with a 6-0 record.
