FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson women's soccer
freshman Danielle Pulliam
(Catonsville/Catonsville) made her first collegiate goal a
memorable one as she scored the game-winner in the 49th minute as
the Mustangs defeated Hood on the road 2-0 Wednesday at Thomas
Athletic Field.
For the 10th time in as many games this season, Stevenson (5-5,
2-1 CAC) was involved in a shutout, winning its second out of the
last three.
After a scoreless first half, Pulliam found the back of the net
off a feed from senior Heather Redding
(Street/North Harford) to snap Stevenson's streak 154:52
without a goal.
In the 64th minute, junior Samantha Novy
(Severna Park/Severna Park) took a feed from freshman
Catherine Madden
(Bethesda/Walter Johnson) to give the Mustangs some
insurance and a two-goal advantage.
Junior Brittany Ross
(Millersville/Severna Park) earned the start and her
fourth victory of the season, finishing with five saves, including
her last in the 65th minute on Hood's Stephanie Taylor to keep the
Blazers scoreless.
Sophomore Lauren Weitzman
(Westminster/Winters Mill) played the final 18 minutes to
preserve the shutout as she and Ross combined for their second
shared shutout of the season.
Hood (4-7, 0-4 CAC) also utilized a two keepers, starting
Rachelle Buhrman who made eight saves before she
yielded to Kirsten Cacciola who kept the Mustangs from adding a
third goal with three saves.
The Mustangs return home to face Wesley in a CAC
contest Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
