ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Led by one goal and one
assist from both Kate Roderick and Lauren Wingert, the
Elizabethtown women's soccer team scored three second half goals to
lead the Blue Jays past Stevenson Saturday at Herr Field, 3-0.
The feast or famine continues for the Mustangs (4-5) who were
involved in their ninth shutout of the season.
The game-winner and second goal for Elizabethtown came just two
minutes apart only 3:20 into the second half.
After a scoreless first half, junior Brittany Ross
(Millersville/Severna Park) gave way to sophomore
Lauren Weitzman
(Westminster/Winters Mill) who allowed all three Blue Jay
goals, including the game-winner off the head of Kathryn Ritter in
the 49th minute off a cross by Kate Roderick.
Roderick then added Elizabethtown's second goal 2:16 later off a
feed from Wingert on a corner kick before Wingert capped the
scoring in the 84th minute on a free kick.
The Blue Jays (4-3-1) held a 13-8 edge in shots, but both teams
were even on corner kicks at four.
Ross played 45 scoreless minutes in the first half with one save
while Weitzman allowed three goals and made three saves.
The Mustangs continue their brief two-game road trip with a CAC
contest at Hood on Wednesday beginning at 4:30 p.m. Stevenson is
8-2 in its last 10 conference games, including 4-0 on the road.
