DOVER, Del. - Stevenson baseball junior
Jeff Bihy (Baltimore/Eastern Tech) and sophomore
Justin Anderson (Shrewsbury, Pa./Calvert Hall)
each had three hits, but Wesley led 7-0 after two innings and
scored 12 runs, the most allowed by the Mustangs this season en
route to a 12-5 CAC victory Sunday at Bob Reed Field.
The Wolverines (8-7, 5-4 CAC) scored 12 runs on 13 hits to hand
Stevenson junior Brandon Krochune (Baltimore/Digital
Harbor) his first loss in four starts this season. Tyler
Burns was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and Grant Morlock who went 2-for-5
with three RBIs.
Krochune allowed 10 runs on 11 hits over four innings while
striking out three.
Wesley scored two runs in the first, including one on an RBI
double by Burns before scoring five in the second, highlighted by a
three-run homer from Morlock.
Bihy had a two-run single in the fourth as the Mustangs (12-4,
6-4 CAC) scored three to pull within two, but the Wolverines
answered with three of their own in the bottom of the inning on a
three-run homer to right center by Burns.
Burns had a solo home run to lead off the seventh to increase
the Wesley lead to nine before Bihy and Krochune had back-to-back
RBI doubles in the eighth to cap the scoring.
Matt Faulkner earned his second win of the season, both of which
have come against the Mustangs. He allowed just seven hits and
three runs over seven innings while striking out four. He also
earned the win on March 9 after throwing two innings of scoreless
relief in a 2-1 victory in 11 innings.
Bihy finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs while Anderson was
3-for-5. Freshman Heath Johnson (Wilmington, Del./Charter
School of Wilmington) went 2-for-4 and freshman
D.J. Milliken (Owings/Northern) allowed just two
hits and one earned run in three innings of relief.
Tuesday's non-conference contest at Frostburg State has been
postponed with no make-up as of yet so the Mustangs' next game will
be this Wednesday, March 24 when they host CAC rival and first
place Salisbury at Yankee Stadium Field beginning at 3:30 p.m.
