Stevenson Baseball Drops CAC Contest at Wesley, 12-5

Box score

DOVER, Del. - Stevenson baseball junior Jeff Bihy (Baltimore/Eastern Tech) and sophomore Justin Anderson (Shrewsbury, Pa./Calvert Hall) each had three hits, but Wesley led 7-0 after two innings and scored 12 runs, the most allowed by the Mustangs this season en route to a 12-5 CAC victory Sunday at Bob Reed Field.

The Wolverines (8-7, 5-4 CAC) scored 12 runs on 13 hits to hand Stevenson junior Brandon Krochune (Baltimore/Digital Harbor) his first loss in four starts this season. Tyler Burns was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and Grant Morlock who went 2-for-5 with three RBIs.

Krochune allowed 10 runs on 11 hits over four innings while striking out three.

Wesley scored two runs in the first, including one on an RBI double by Burns before scoring five in the second, highlighted by a three-run homer from Morlock.

Bihy had a two-run single in the fourth as the Mustangs (12-4, 6-4 CAC) scored three to pull within two, but the Wolverines answered with three of their own in the bottom of the inning on a three-run homer to right center by Burns.

Burns had a solo home run to lead off the seventh to increase the Wesley lead to nine before Bihy and Krochune had back-to-back RBI doubles in the eighth to cap the scoring.

Matt Faulkner earned his second win of the season, both of which have come against the Mustangs. He allowed just seven hits and three runs over seven innings while striking out four. He also earned the win on March 9 after throwing two innings of scoreless relief in a 2-1 victory in 11 innings.

Bihy finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs while Anderson was 3-for-5. Freshman Heath Johnson (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) went 2-for-4 and freshman D.J. Milliken (Owings/Northern) allowed just two hits and one earned run in three innings of relief.

Tuesday's non-conference contest at Frostburg State has been postponed with no make-up as of yet so the Mustangs' next game will be this Wednesday, March 24 when they host CAC rival and first place Salisbury at Yankee Stadium Field beginning at 3:30 p.m.
