Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. - Stevenson women's soccer junior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin) scored a season-high seven points with three goals and one assist as the Mustangs secured their second-straight CAC regular season title with a 4-1 road victory at Marymount (Va.) Saturday night in their regular season finale.
Unlike last season, the win gave Stevenson (10-6-1, 6-1-1 CAC) the CAC regular season title outright and secured the team the top seed and a first round bye in the CAC Women's Soccer Championship.
A year ago, the Mustangs shared the CAC regular season title with Salisbury, but the Sea Gulls earned the top seed in the conference tournament by virtue of its 1-0 victory over Stevenson.
The Mustangs will begin its quest for its first CAC championship on Tuesday, November 2 when they host a semifinal contest at Caves Athletics Complex against the winner between fifth-seeded Salisbury and fourth-seeded seed York (Pa.).
After totaling just five points in her previous 16 games this season, Eyler raised her season total to 12 on five goals and two assists, two behind the team lead held by senior Heather Redding (Street/North Harford).
Eyler, who scored her first points since she netted her 100th career point with a goal in a 3-0 win versus Wesley on October 2, now has 48 career goals, six shy of the all-time CAC record held by Goucher's Sarah Weaver who had 54 from 1994-97.
Eyler opened the scoring with her third goal of the season just three minutes into the game to give Stevenson a 1-0 lead which it would take into halftime despite outshooting the Saints, 15-2 in the first half.
Eyler then increased the lead to two with the eventual game-winner, the 12th of her career, in the 55th minute off an assist from senior Brittany Bangert (White Marsh/Eastern Tech).
Paige Pierson cut the lead in the half with her 15th goal of the year in the 73rd minute before Eyler ended any hopes of a comeback with her third goal of the game seven minutes later.
Eyler also had a hand in the Mustangs' fourth goal, picked up an assist to freshman Danielle Pulliam (Catonsville/Catonsville) in the 82nd minute.
Sophomore Lauren Weitzman (Westminster/Winters Mill) remained unbeaten in her last five decisions, improving her record to 4-0-1 by making one second half save.
Gaby Prellezo had seven saves for the Eagles (4-10, 2-6 CAC).
