Box Score SALISBURY, Md. - Hampered by 21 attack errors and its lowest hitting percentage of the season, the Stevenson women's volleyball team dropped its second consecutive CAC contest and fourth out of the last five as Salisbury totaled 65 kills and 15 total blocks in posting a 25-19, 26-24, 25-21 victory Thursday night at the Maggs Physical Activities Center.
The loss was the third-straight CAC road loss for the Mustangs (20-6, 3-4 CAC) who also had seven service and five reception errors.
Senior Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty) and sophomore Avery Gabbard (Arnold/Broadneck) each had eight kills for Stevenson, but combined for 12 errors, nine of which came from Gabbard who posted just her second negative hitting percentage of the season at minus-.032.
Salisbury (17-10, 4-2 CAC) notched a six-point win in the first set before the Sea Gulls trailed 23-21 in the second. Following a timeout, they tied the game at 23-23 and sneaked out the two-point victory on an ace by Carley Todd.
The start of the third set was back and fourth before Salisbury broke an 11-11 tie with a 5-1 run.
The Sea Gulls sealed their 13th straight set victory of the season on a block by Kelly Vieira. She finished the game with five total blocks.
Junior Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) totaled a team-high 15 digs for Stevenson and Gabbard added 13. Junior Amy Rudolph (North East/Rising Sun) had 13 digs to go along with 11 assists. Freshman Jessica Gieselman (Westminster/Winters Mill) had 10 assists and eight digs.
Chelsea Glowacki finished with 13 kills for Salisbury while Lindsey Saltzman had 21 digs.
Stevenson travels to Ursinus for a tri-match with the Bears and Rowan on Saturday.
