TOWSON, Md. - Julien Greco scored the game's
only goal in the 23rd minute off an assist from Elijah Lais to
lead Goucher to a 1-0 win over local rival Stevenson Saturday night
at Beldon Field.
The contest was the third-straight decided by
one-goal for the Mustangs (2-3) this season where
they are 1-2. It was also Stevenson's 15th one-goal game under
third-year head coach John Plevyak. The team is
8-7 in those games.
Meanwhile, it was the fourth one-goal game for the Gophers
(4-1) this season and their third win in such games. The
team's only one-goal loss came in overtime to DeSales in the
championship game of the Goucher Classic, 2-1.
The goal was Greco's second of the season and gave Goucher its
second win over a team from the CAC following its 1-0 win at Hood
in the season opener on September 2.
Stevenson sophomore Ryan Flannelly (Middlesex,
N.J./Middlesex) made five saves while Justin Holbrook had
four in picking up his third shutout for the Gophers.
The Mustangs look to snap their two-game skid on Tuesday when
they return home to face Penn State-Harrisburg. Game time is at
4:00 p.m.
