Box score

GLEN BURNIE, Md. - Mike Dombrosky scattered six hits over six innings while surrendering just two earned runs to lead Wesley to a 10-6 victory over the Stevenson University baseball team on Wednesday at Bachman Sports Complex, snapping the Mustangs' seven-game CAC winning streak.

The loss also ended a six-game home winning streak for Stevenson (10-6, 6-1 CAC) who left 11 runners on base and went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

The Wolverines (12-8-1, 4-5 CAC) scored all 10 of their runs in the first five innings where they totaled 11 of their 12 hits and took advantage of six walks and three hit batsmen.

Kevin Murphy went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs to lead Wesley offensively while Geoff Kimmel went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Murphy and Kimmel both picked up RBI singles in the top of the first as the Wolverines took a 2-0 lead before Murphy added two more on an RBI single in the second to increase the lead to 4-1.

The Mustangs scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut their deficit to 6-4 on RBIs by junior George Papuchis (Damascus/Good Counsel) and junior Dan Leonard (Cambridge/South Dorchester).

Kimmel added another RBI single in the fourth before the Wolverines took a 10-4 lead with three runs in the top of the fifth, two of which came on a two-run single by Murphy.

Junior Derrick Nason (Catonsville/Reservoir) suffered his first loss in four starts this season after allowing six earned runs on five hits and three walks with a hit batsmen.

Kyle McGuire picked up his first save of the year for Wesley to help a pitching staff that used six pitchers in a 9-4, 14-inning win at Haverford on Tuesday. He surrendered just one run over the final three innings while scattering four hits.

Papuchis and senior Wade Keenan (Eldersburg/Liberty) each finished 3-for-5 with Papuchis adding a run and an RBI and Keenan lacing a two-out triple to right in the eighth.

Stevenson returns to action on Thursday, hosting a nine-inning, non-conference contest with Frostburg State beginning at 3:30 p.m.
