Fredericksburg, VA- Game 1 of the day was a thriller that
unfortunately found the Mustangs on the short end, falling 6-5 to
the Eagles. Jr Wade Keenan threw 6 innings
striking out 7 and allowing just 2 ER's. The Mustangs lead
for the majority of the game, and held a 5-3 lead going into the
bottom of the 7th only to see the lead evaporate in part to 4 walks
and 2 hits. Offensively, Jr Griffin Stewart
was 2-3 with 2 Doubles and 2 RBI's, Sr Jimmy Smith
was 2-3 and So Ryan Baione was 1-2 with 2
RBI's.
Game 2 started much the same way with the Mustangs building a 6-1
lead early then tacking on a few more later to get the 8-5 victory.
So John Jackson pitched well for 6 1/3
innings in his first start of the season. Jr Chris
Hayden came in to pitch the final 2 2/3 inings to pick up
his first save of the season. Offensively, So George
Papuchis was 3-5 with 1 RBI and 2 Doubles, giving him 19
on the year and breaking the school record of 18. Sr
Jimmy Smith added 2 hits and 4 RBI's, Jr
Ryan Baione 2-4 with and RBI, and Jr Brett
Steele was 2-5 with 2 RBI's.
The Mustangs are back in action on Wednesday vs York College at
4 pm at Bachman Sports Complex.
