Owings Mills, MD - Junior Brett Steele signed a contract on
April 14th to become a member of the Corpus Christi Beach Dawgs (www.ccbeachdawgs.com).
In his inaguaral season with the Mustangs, he batted .423
(60-142), 38 runs, 16 doubles, 4 home runs, and 40 RBI's. When he
signed, he was top 10 in two categories in the
country, including top 2 in hits, and top 5 in average. May 3rd is
the beginning of Spring Training. Brett is the first baseball
player to move on to the pro ranks. "When we were recruiting Brett,
we knew this was a real possibility and we are very excited to see
him pursue his dream at the next level. I've been the Head Coach
for the last 5 years, and this signing shows the direction our
program has and will continue to go. We wish Brett the very best of
luck, and look forward to seeing him play, and seeing more of our
players sign in the pro ranks," says Coach Tawney.
The Continental Baseball League welcomes the Corpus Christi
Beach Dawgs for the 2008 season. The Beach Dawgs will have 36 home
and 36 away games (plus play-offs) between Memorial Day Weekend and
mid-August at RMB Fairgrounds Field in Robstown. The Continental
Baseball League founded in 2006 and played its inaugural season
May-August 2007, is dedicated to creating "Americas Hometown
Teams"-a group of professional independent baseball franchises,
playing in fan-friendly facilities, providing a fun environment for
families to experience professional baseball at affordable prices.
Franchises for 2008 include defending 2007 champions Blue Thunder;
Bay Area Toros and Texarkana.
