Baltimore, MD - A showdown of two baltimore teams in the midst
of their conference schedule turned out to be quite a game.
Nationally ranked Hopkins (#18) opened the scoring with
2 in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd on a solo home run. The
Mustangs did not give up and in the top of the 4th they tied the
game, putting up 3 runs, and then took the lead in the 5th on a
fielders choice to give the 'Stang's a 4-3 lead.
Mustangs starter, Junior Ryan Baione, was
throwing the ball well but 2 errors led off the bottom of the 5th
to send the Mustangs into a sprial. The lead was lost, giving
the Blue Jays 6 unearned runs that would see them through to
a 9-4 win. Baione pitched 5 innings
striking out 4 and giving up 3 ER, while Junior Wade
Keenan finished the game pitching 3 innings striking out
6. Offensively only 2 Mustangs had multiple hits, Junior
Max Eckert was 2-4, and Sophomore John
Jackson was 2-4 with a double and an RBI.
The Mustangs are back in action this weekend at York to find out
who will battle for the 5th seed in the CAC tournament next week.
Game time is scheduled for Noon on Saturday.
