Camden, NJ-
The Eastern Eagles defeated the Mustangs in the first game
of the Rutgers-Camden Tournament 1-0.
Mike DeLorenzo's goal at 69:32 was the only tally the Eagles could
muster, despite a 16-5 advantage in shots. That score, however, was
enough to even Eastern's record at 1-1 and hand Villa Julie (2-1)
its first defeat of the year. DeLorenzo took a feed from
junior Scott Patrick and angled a shot from the
left top of the box into the far right corner.
Villa Julie senior keeper Eric Lowman (Catonsville,
MD/Catonsville) made eight saves in a galant effort to
keep the Mustangs in the game.
In the nightcap, the hosts defeated Alvernia College 2-0.
Villa will face another Pennsylvania Athletic Conference foe
Alvernia College on Saturday at Rutgers Camden for a 5pm kickoff.
