Washington, DC.- In Game 1, Villa Julie Starter
Sr Gary Sanders dominated the Catholic batters,
pitching a complete game shutout by only allowing 3 hits and
striking out 8. Offensively the Mustangs scored 2 in the 2nd, and
that would be all they needed enroute to the 6-0 victory.
Offensively, Fr John Cummings was 3-3 with 2 runs
scored and an RBI. Jr Jimmy Smith finished 2-3
with 2 RBI's, and Sr Kevin Rodgers finished 2-2.
In Game 2, the Mustangs needed their bats as the pitching wasn't
up to par. After spotting Catholic a 6-2 lead, Villa battled back
to take a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the 4th. The game went back and
forth as the Catholic took a 3 run lead into the bottom of the 7th,
only to see the Mustangs put 2 runs up and have a runner on 3rd
with 2 outs. Catholic closer Bzozwoski retired Jimmy
Smith to preserve the victory. Offensively, So
Wade Keenan was 3-4 with 4 RBI's including a
triple and a double. Jr Jimmy Smith was 2-5 with a
triple and 2 RBI's, So Griffin
Stewart and Fr Brian Moran each
added two hits in game 2.
The Mustangs are back in action Monday in a DH against
conference foe Polytechnic starting at 3 pm @ Bachman Sports
Complex.
