Washington, DC.- On a cold windy day, when
Villa and Catholic were scheduled to play 2, the Mustangs were
victorious after a 2 hr delay due to field conditions. The game
started with Catholic taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first,
but little did they know, that would be their only run of the game
as starting pitcher Jr Buddy Breidenbaugh threw a
complete game, allowing 0 earned runs, while striking out 9. The
Mustangs gained the lead after they scored single runs in the 2nd
and 3rd inning. They then tacked on 2 more in the 7th. So
Griffin Stewart singled up the middle, Jr
Storm Griffin planned to sacrifice but hustled out
a single as Grffin went first to third. After a
ground out, So Ryan Baione singled in
Stewart, and So Wade Keenan hit a
Sac fly to score pinch runner Sr Dave Brown. That
was the end of the scoring for the day as the Mustangs (3-4)
defeated Catholic University 4-1. Offensively,
Keenan and Stewart each had 2
hits, with Keenan picking up an RBI. Sr
Kevin Rodgers hit his 41st double of his career,
tying the school record. The Mustangs are back in action Tuesday at
Washington College for a 2:30 start.
