Villa drops to 1-4, as Greensboro climbs to 12-10 in a 6-5
defeat of the Mustangs in Greensboro. Villa pushing through
the rust of playing just 5 games and not being on a field in 23
days out hit the Pride 14-7, but could only muster 5 runs to their
6. Sophomore Wade Keenan threw 8 innings
allowing just 2 earned runs in his complete game loss. He
allowed the first two batters of the game to score, then shut down
the Pride until the 5th when 4 runs scored on a crucial mistake by
the Mustang defense. Villa climbed back into the game and
stranded many in scoring position in the final 3 innings.
Offensively, junior Jimmy Smith was 3-5
with 2 runs scored, junior Buddy
Breidenbaugh 2-5 with 2 RBI's, junior
Adam Iacarino 2-4, senior Kevin
Rodgers 2-3, 2b, and 1 RBI, and sophomore
Griffin Stewart 1-4 with a Solo Homerun paced the
Mustang offense. The Mustangs put a nice game together and
came up just a bit short, but it looks as if they are getting back
to the way they should be playing. They are back in action
tomorrow vs Guilford College for a 3pm start.
