St. Mary's City, MD.-
The Baseball Team opened their season with a 10-4 victory over
future CAC foe St. Mary's College. Villa opened up with a lead,
scoring 1 run in the top of the first, but leaving the bases
loaded. A common theme throughout the day, as they left 14 on base.
St. Mary's came back with 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the
first. Going into the 6th inning, Villa was clinging to a 1 run
lead, until finally the offense erupted for 7 runs, including back
to back to back RBI doubles by Jr Alex Laddbush,
So Griffin Stewart, and Sr Kevin
Rodgers. On the mound Sr Garrett Sanders
picked up the victory pitching 5 innings while allowing zero earned
runs. The offense was lead by Jr Alex Laddbush 3-4
3 RBI's, Sr Kevin Rodgers 2-5 2 RBI's, and Sr
Dave Brown 1-2, 4 BB, 3 runs scored. The Mustangs
are on the road next vs Hampden-Sydney on Saturday Feb 17th for a
Noon double header.
