Salisbury, MD - The Villa Julie Men's Soccer team matched
conference opponent Salisbury for 57 minutes before losing out
to two goals in the space of four minutes. The Mustangs played
strong against a Salisbury team who are currently ranked 6th
in the Region and unbeaten in the Capital Athletic Conference but
could not grab the win, losing 2-0.
The first half ended goalless with both teams having chances to
score. In the first 45 minutes, the
Mustangs organized defense limited the Salisbury
attack to only five shots on goal. Goalkeeper Eric Lowman
(Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) was again strong in
goal and picked up 5 saves in the half to keep the game scoreless.
In the second half of the game, the Mustangs created more
attacking opportunities and forced the Salisbury keeper into making
4 saves. The deadlock was finally broken in the 57th minute
when Salisbury found the back of the net. Four
minutes later Salisbury would add to their lead and score the
final goal of the game. Eric Lowman recorded
10 saves in the game.
The Mustangs (6-7-1) will be back in conference action on
Saturday 13th October when they travel to face conference opponent
Marymount University in a 4pm kick-off.
