Rocky Mount, NC - Senior Anthony
DeCesaris (Churchtown, MD/Archbishop Spalding) netted a
game-winning, overtime goal, to lift Villa Julie (1-0) to a
1-0 win over Bridgewater College (0-1) in a non-conference
men's soccer match on Sunday morning.
Villa's goal came equipped with a rare double
assist as junior Brent Woolford
(Pasadena, MD/Northeast) took a strong corner kick and put it on
sophomore Scott Andrzejewskis' (Towson, MD/Towson)
head, who then headed it to DeCesaris.
Junior goalie Eric Lowman (Baltimore /
Catonsville) recorded his third consecutive shutout dating back to
the 2005 campaign. He turned away nine Eagles' shots for the
win, running his streak of scoreless minutes to 326:38. Cazenovia
was the last team to find twine on the Mustang's junior keeper,
beating him on a late first half penalty kick back on October 29,
2005. Lowman has saved 31 shots since that 12-yarder.
With the win, Villa Julie opens the 2006 campaign with a 1-0
mark. Bridgewater falls to 0-1 with the loss. The Mustangs return
to the pitch tomorrow against Hood. That game will be
played on the Rocky Mount campus of North Carolina
Weslyan College at 11:00 a.m.
