York, PA.- Andrew Wheeler
recorded a pair of goals and a pair of assists to lift #5 York
College (6-0-1) to a 7-0 win over Villa Julie (4-4) in a
non-conference soccer match on Wednesday. The Spartans remained
unbeaten for their 23rd consecutive game. They were fresh off of a
0-0 tie against #1 Messiah.
The game was 2-0 in favor of York at the half, but a pair of
quick goals in the opening minutes of the second half dashed
Villa's hopes of a comeback bid.
Villa was out-shot 18-3 by York with the Spartans placing 11
shots on the Mustangs' cage. Eric Lowman
(Baltimore / Catonsville) turned away four shots before yielding
the net to Dan McCleary (Baltimore / Parkville) in
the waning minutes. He came up with one save in just under nine
minutes of play.
The fourth consecutive loss evens the Mustangs at 4-4 on the
year. York remained unbeaten at 6-0-1. Villa returns to the pitch
on Saturday for a NEAC match with Keystone.
