Owings Mills, MD.- Narayan Khalsa scored two
goals to deliver fourth seeded Bard a 2-0 semifinal win over host
and top-seeded Villa Julie on Friday. The Bard victory lands the
Raptors (12-5-1) in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC)
finals on Saturday afternoon, where they will face Chestnut Hill,
who were 2-0 victors over Keuka. Villa Julie falls to 11-8 with the
loss.
Khalsa opened the game's scoring 15:49 into the game. He found
pay-dirt again for the game-winner early in the second half. Both
of his goals were unassisted.
Villa needed the better part of the game to get its offense on
track. Scott Andrzejewski (Lutherville, MD /
Towson ) finally broke through late in the 78th minute.
It was all of the offense the Mustangs' could muster.
Steven Stevenson stopped 12 Villa shots for the win. Villa fired
22 more shots at the Bard cage than Bard was able to pepper on the
Mustangs' net, holding a 29-7 advantage. Villa was also unable to
capitalize on its 11-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Villa warps its season at 12-5-1 with the loss. Bard will face
Chestnut Hill on the Owings Mills Campus on Saturday for the NEAC
Championship and accompanying NCAA Automatic Qualifier. That game
