Towson, M.D. - The Stevenson men's tennis team started its fall season competing at the Goucher Invitational.
In doubles action,
Nick Valis and
Colin Sepos picked up a 6-4 victory over Lines and Caviness of Penn State Harrisburg before falling 6-2 to Kanithi and Rajarajon.
Brandon Nguyen and
King Nacua fell in their matches to Gettysburg's Burges and Kutlu (6-4) and Goucher's King and Cortez (6-1).
Christian Coulson and
Nate Kelly fell to Gettysburg's O'Connnor and Mustafa (6-3) and Penn State Harrisburg's Ortiz and Herb (6-1).
In singles play, highlight matchups featured an all-Stevenson battle where
Christian Coulson overcame
King Nacua 8-6.
Coulson also picked up a win by default-walkover, while
Nacua bounced back with an 8-6 victory over Goucher's Lucena.
Nick Valis earned an 8-5 win over Frostburg's Patnam before falling 6-2 to Penn State Harrisburg's Herb, while
Evan DeVincent fell in his matches against Penn State Harrisburg's Herb (8-3) and Frostburg's Putnam (8-5).
Lucas Khelawan defeated Penn State Harrisburg's Wolfgang 8-5 before falling 8-3 to Frostburg's Hintermeister.
Vincent Merendino added another win for the Mustangs with an 8-5 victory over Frostburg's Miller, followed by a hard-fought 8-6 loss to Caviness of Penn State Harrisburg.
Joe Lang fell in both his matches against Penn State Harrisburg's Caviness (8-6) and Wolfgang (8-7(4)).
