HERSHEY, P.A. – The Stevenson men's tennis team competed in the Dutchmen Invitational on Sunday at the Hershey Racquet Club, facing off against Lebanon Valley College, Wilkes University and York College.
Stevenson finished fourth in Group A with 68 points and third in Group B with 63 points.
In the opening round against Wilkes, Stevenson's Team A fell 32-21, while Team B dropped a 26-20 decision. King Nacua picked up a win in the men's singles competition for Team A, while Shelby Carter battled to a 4-4 draw in women's singles. Christian Coulson and Brandon Nguyen teamed up in men's doubles and fell 6-4. Sofia McCoy and Kara Chwang battled to a 4-4 draw in women's doubles. Emma Clayton earned a 4-3 victory in women's singles for Team B, while Delano Mengo and Isatou Sallah secured a 5-4 win in mixed doubles. Nate Kelly and Nick Valis battled to a 5-5 draw in men's doubles.
Stevenson then faced York in the afternoon, with Team A narrowly falling 26-25 and Team B dropping a 31-20 decision. King Nacua and Brandon Nguyen earned a 5-4 victory in men's doubles, while Christian Coulson and Kara Chwang teamed up for a 6-5 mixed doubles win. Team B saw Nate Kelly earn a 5-4 victory in men's singles.
The Mustangs closed the invitational against host Lebanon Valley. Team A fell 39-22, while Team B dropped a 32-23 decision. Stevenson picked up several individual victories, including a 7-3 men's doubles win by Nate Kelly and Nick Valis against Lebanon Valley's Team B. Nate Kelly and Emma Clayton also teamed up for an 8-1 mixed doubles victory.
Stevenson's Team A finished the day with a 68-point total, while Team B posted 63 points. Lebanon Valley captured first place in Group A with 115 points, while York finished first in Group B with 103 points.
