OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Following the completion of regular-season conference play on Sunday, five Mustang teams have secured berths in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament. Men's and women's lacrosse, softball, and men's and women's tennis will all compete this week with hopes of advancing to their respective championship finals.
The men's lacrosse team enters the postseason as the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 seed Messiah in the semifinal round on Wednesday night. The Mustangs earned an 18-4 victory over the Falcons in their regular-season meeting, highlighted by four players recording four-point performances. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Mustang Stadium.
Women's lacrosse claimed the No. 3 seed and will travel to face No. 2 seed York (Pa.) in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Mustangs fell to the nationally ranked Spartans earlier this spring and will look to turn the tables in postseason play.
Softball clinched its postseason berth during the final week of the regular season, opening a pivotal doubleheader at York (Pa.) with a 4-2 victory before falling in game two on Friday, April 24. The split, combined with a tiebreaker over the Spartans and other conference results, secured Stevenson's place in the tournament. The Mustangs earned the No. 4 seed and will face defending champion and No. 1 seed Messiah in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Women's tennis enters the championship as the No. 4 seed and will face Messiah in the semifinals on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Mustangs secured their postseason spot with 6-1 victories over Alvernia and Eastern. After falling to Messiah two weeks ago, Stevenson will look to deliver a strong semifinal performance.
Men's tennis also earned the No. 4 seed and will take on Albright in the semifinals Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Mustangs clinched their playoff berth with a 7-0 win over Alvernia and a 6-1 victory against York. Stevenson dropped its conference opener to Albright earlier this season and will aim to make an impact in the rematch.
