ARLINGTON, V.A. – The Stevenson women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory against Marymount University on Sunday.
In doubles play, Stevenson swept all three matches to earn the doubles point. Sofia McCoy and Shelby Carter earned a 6-2 win over Olivia Clontz and Elise Wong. Kara Chwang and Emma Clayton topped Alejandra Gallegos and Sophia Bernitt 6-2, while Molly Whitfield and Rachel Lubovsky grabbed a 7-5 victory over Myasia Leonard and Great Praise Wisdom.
In singles action, Shelby Carter battled back for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 win over Olivia Clontz. With the win, Carter is now tied for third-most combined wins at No. 1 doubles and singles in program history with 28 wins at the top of the lineup. At No. 2 singles, Sofia McCoy also rallied for a 0-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory against Alejandra Gallegos.
Kara Chwang secured a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win over Great Praise Wisdom. The victory marks Chwang's 19th career singles win, tying her for the 10th-most in program history. Emma Clayton swept past Elise Wong 6-1, 6-0, while Molly Whitfield earned her first win at Stevenson with an 8-4 pro-set victory over Sophia Bernitt. Rachel Lubovsky fell 8-4 to Myasia Leonard.
