Kara Yarusso had eight goals while
Erin Steinberg added in four more as the Stevenson University women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 in the MAC Commonwealth with a 22-8 win over Alvernia on Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs (9-4, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) will face nationally-ranked York on Wednesday in a match up of two of the four undefeated teams in the Commonwealth.
Ava Treakle scored three goals as the Mustangs outshot the Golden Wolves (4-9, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) 37-16 on the afternoon.
Kellyann Coccia had two goals with
Bailey Krahl getting fours. Coccia had three assists as well for the Mustangs.
Yarusso had a game-high seven draw controls with Coccia getting five and
Sophia Murray adding in three. Murray led the way with three ground balls, while causing five turnovers.
In goal,
Regan Torbert had one save while
Anna Johnston and
Reilly Holstrom played the final quarter.
Stevenson put the game out of reach early, netting the first nine goals of the game. Treakle's goal with 2:34 left in the quarter gave the Mustangs a 9-0 lead.
Leading 14-3 at halftime, the Mustangs saw Alvernia get to withing seven at 15-8, before blanking the Golden Wolves in the fourth quarter.
