Liam McCanney picks up his second-straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week following two wins against Neumann University. Senior Nathan Williams of indoor track & field and junior outside hitter
Tim Flanagan of men's volleyball also picked up accolades.
McCanney ended Stevenson's series against Neumann with five points this past weekend. In Friday's 5-2 win in Aston, McCanney scored a natural hat trick in the first period, earning his fifth game-winner of the season along the way. Saturday's 6-3 victory at home saw McCanney score his fourth goal of the weekend and tally an assist on
Frank Vitucci's goal. McCanney has nine points in his last four games and leads the conference in goals with 19. His 24 points, four power-play goals, and +19 rating lead the Mustangs so far this season.
Williams took first place in the weight throw, finishing with a personal record and yet another school record in the event with a top toss of 20.54m. He beat his previous record, set just 2 months ago, by .34m. Williams currently has the top distance in the weight throw in the Mid-Atlantic region and second-best in Division III. Williams also won the shot put this past weekend with a top throw of 15.57m. Williams has the third-best shot put performance in the region and 18th-best in DIII (16.22m).
Flanagan hit over .500 in two of three matches. Against Roanoke, had 16 kills on 25 attempts to just three errors. In the Clash at Kean, had 19 kills against New Paltz and a season-high 26 in the win over host Kean.
Men's ice hockey begins a home series against Wilkes University, with Saturday including senior day festivities, beginning on Friday, February 9 at 7 p.m. in Reisterstown Sportsplex. Track and Field travel to the DIII Pre-Nationals occurring Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9 and 10. Men's volleyball hosts Southern Virginia University on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in Owings Mills gymnasium.
