Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University men's basketball team shook off a slow start on Friday night in the first day of the Owings Mills Marriott at Metro Centre Classic, defeating PSU-Berks (0-3) 88-63.
The Mustangs (2-0) will advance to take on Brooklyn, who fended off a late rally from Carlow 66-63 in the opening game. Carlow and PSU-Berks will battle in the consolation game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Cam Smith had 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting, while
Joey Lutz added in 16 with an impressive 5-for-8 shooting from behind the three-point line. The Mustangs as a team shot 12-for-29 from behind the arc, with Smith connecting on three long distance jumpers.
Zach Bolgert added in ten as Stevenson led by 29 midway through the second half.
The Nittany Lions, who led 16-5 with 12:35 left in the first half, got 12 points each from Andre Ballard and Jaedon Mast.
Mason Jones and Bolgert each had six rebounds as Stevenson had a 44-36 edge on the glass. Jones, Smith and
Myles Jackson each had four assists, with
Kyle Luddy netting three assists.
